DESCRIPTION OF PARTNER:
Our school is situated about 15 km from the city centre in one of the northern districts of Warsaw. It is a modern district with lots of blocks of flats where our students live. Unfortunately there are not many places to hang out for young people so most of them spend their free time watching tv or playing computer games. Our students come from different families- quite wealthy and not very wealthy, but not poor. Some parents are well educated people but there are also parents who are physical workers. Some of them come from rural areas. They often work long hours so they have no time for their children. Moreover, they usually do not pay much attention to their children's education and do nothing to motivate them to learn. We we have noticed that our students' motivation has been decreasing systematically. More and more of our students do not consider their own education important. Some of them have really poor grades and there are students who go to the same class for the third time.
That's why our students need a good example and motivation for learning. We would like to make our school more attractive for them. We also want to show them that well educated people have a lot of different possibilities as far as their job and future career are concerned.
In our opinion participation in the
project, which deals with education and early school leaving, will encourage
our students to pay more attention to their own education and increase their
motivation for learning. It will also make parents aware of the problem of
early school leaving.
