DESCRIPTION OF PARTNER:
The school is a vocational school specializing in business, tourism and graphics.
The school is located very close to the famous Royal Palace, the imposing complex which boasts magnificent rooms as well as a huge park with fountains, a water fall and a fish pond. It is situated in an area with a very rich artisitic and historical heritage and breathtaking natural beauties (Napoli, Pompei, Capri, the Amalfi Coast are within easy reach).
It has already had exchange trips with French, German, Danish and Croatian Schools (not Comenius projects).
It has about 70 teachers plus some more to support disabled students. There are about 650 students, most of them are girls. All the students study English, some study French and others study German. There are two language labs, 4 IT labs, 3 laboratories for graphic design for a total of 160 computers plus the computers in the administration offices. There is an assembly room with IT devices. There is also a library, a gym, where students can play volleyball, table tennis, chess and other activities.
Even if our school is in a town centre, most of our students come from the suburb area, which we can consider as a disadvantaged area, as social and cultural events are not available for everybody. It is also an area of high unemployment, and our students often come from families suffering from financial problems. All these factors often lead to lack of motivation and early school leaving. In our school we also have many students with special needs and others at risk of leaving school at an early stage for several different reasons. For the first group there are trained teachers to help them and for the second our school has created some professional courses in order to avoid early school leaving. We try hard to motivate our students and involve them in international projects that we think will increase their self esteem.
